3 Key Health Benefits Of Drinking Water

  • August 27, 2025

It is common advice these days to drink plenty of water, and for good reason. We have been told constantly that our bodies as humans are made of about 70% water and water is necessary for almost every function the human body carries out. In truth, the human body is 60% made up of water and it is not unusual to find water levels between 45% and 75%. The amount of water in a human body depends on factors such as age, sex, and hydration. From maintaining the body systems and functions through homeostasis to simply keeping us hydrated and fresh, there are no shortages in the health benefits we derive from drinking water. In this article, we will discuss three key health benefits of drinking water.

Drinking Enough Water Can Help Improve Your Skin

As a skin cleanser, water helps to remove toxins from the body, hydrating the body enough to constantly produce sweat and other forms of waste products that our bodies use in eliminating toxins. It has also been said that drinking enough water helps smoothen wrinkles while helping us get rid of dry skin by moisturising the body and hence, the skin. Glowing skin has also been linked to drinking enough water.

Drinking Enough Water Can Help You Lose Weight

Many people cannot tell if they are hungry or simply thirsty and would eat anytime they need to put something in their mouth. Instead of eating food every time you have the urge to put something in your mouth, try drinking water. You should have a roaster that determines when and what you eat. That way, you know for sure it’s not time to eat when next you have an urge. Your body needs water to break fat down, so make sure you drink water thirty minutes before you eat. This also has the benefit of making your body desire less food when you eat thirty minutes after drinking water.

Drinking Enough Water Can Help Your Body Fight Illnesses

Water is important for our immune systems to stay up and active. Water carries oxygen to our cells to keep them fighting and to aid the repair and building of new cells. Ailments like cold sores, cough, runny nose significantly abate when we keep our bodies properly hydrated. Also, many kidney, bladder, and digestive problems can be aided by drinking water and staying hydrated.
