He was then 83 but had made a monumental impact on Australian show business and his own family. After all, he and his wife, Patti Newton, were deemed the King and Queen of Aussie entertainment.
Bert, who had two kids with his spouse, had his 1957 small-screen debut by working with Graham Kennedy on “In Melbourne Tonight.” Since then, he went on to host his own program, “The Bert Newton Show,” and “Good Morning Australia.”
