Maxwell Q. Klinger is the role that helped Jamie Farr become a permanent fixture in Hollywood. Portraying the cross-dressing corporal on M*A*S*H made him one of three former U.S military men to grace the show. Winning two dollars in his youth from an acting contest is what got the ball rolling for him.

The Pasadena Playhouse sharpened his acting skills further, and Goldwyn-Mayer soon signed him up. Farr hasn’t been short of work over the years, and he’s scheduled to feature in the upcoming documentary Bowery Rhapsody: The Rise and Redemption of Hollywood’s Original ‘Brat Pack.’ He has had severe rheumatoid arthritis since the ’90s.
